CONVENTIONS:

This weekend (SEPT. 29-30, 2012), the inaugural LAS VEGAS COMIC EXPO will be held at the Riviera Hotel & Casino. Come by and say 'Hello.' if you can. It'd be great to meet you.

OCT. 11-14, 2012 I will be at NEW YORK COMIC CON as the Javits Center.

NOV. 03-04, 2012 I will be at LONG BEACH COMIC CON at the Long Beach Convention Center.

In all of the events I mentioned above, I will be in attendance with the rest of the guys and gals from ESSENTIAL SEQUENTIAL. If your interested in purchasing any and all of our art, sketchbooks, prints, etc. - please visit the site.


NEWS:

Tomorrow, Friday (SEPT. 27, '12) at 11AM PDT I will be joining Sean Gordon Murphy, Jeff Wamester, Christopher Copeland and members of the Deviant Art legal staff on a Twitter chat about a range of topics such as Comics, Copyright, Fan Art, Creator owned content, and overall deviantART community. Follow along by typing in '#dAChat' in the Twitter search window.

Sean had described to me as '...it may be a good time." And of course, based on that sales pitch, I was compelled.



So there you go. I'm a bit ill-tempered at the moment because I just spent godknowshowlong updating this silly, neglected gallery of mine and I can't be bothered to be more talky nor link to any and all of the people and sites I've mentioned in this journal entry. I've got storyboard deadlines to meet and I'm gonna catch hell from my boss if I don't finish before I leave for Vegas - so links can go screw.

I will be attending this year's EMERALD CITY COMIC CON in Seattle, WA - March 30-31 and April 1.

On October 28th to November 1st, I will be attending LUCCA COMICS & GAMES 2011.

And the people who are responsible for inviting me to experience such an exciting event (not to mention the ones who'll be responsible for curbing my embarrassing tendencies) are Messrs. ALESSANDRO VITTI and ELIA BONETTI - both of whom are part of LATERAL STUDIO. They were kind enough to publish a book featuring my grey marker illustrations and I will be at their table at specific times the entire weekend of the convention, signing and drawing sketches for those who are kind enough to visit.

(It should be noted that I've never included my grey-tone marker sketches in any of my previous books - not even in monster that is ENCORE. And as per my agreement with Alessandro and the guys at Lateral, no incarnation of this book nor its contents will ever be published elsewhere except through his company. 'Exclusive to Lateral' means they get the goods. Exclusively.)

Also, my good friend will be on hand to show me the lay of the land (well, he's not there for *me* exclusively, of course - the guy is an art rock star, so he's going to be signing at a booth elsewhere at the show to promote his own AWESOME body of work). I love hanging out with Matteo because he's got a great sense of humor similar to mine and when it comes to art and doing commissions, he raises the bar, he's inspiring to watch, and he keeps me on my toes to produce better work. It'll be a great honor to finally do a convention on his home turf, in a manner of speaking. I think I'm going to be asking him all sorts of questions and will be asking him to translate everything for me. And when he finally gets sick of me, he'll just leave me in the corner of the city some place to fend for myself. Wish me luck.

'FOTO' is a collection specially designed for Lateral to debut at Lucca Comics & Games, and afterwards to be distributed for the European market exclusively. Simply put, it won't be available anywhere here in the US. **EDIT: I forgot the most integral/important part of my NYCC show experience this year - I'll be sitting with my Italian brother from another my mother, the cream in my cafe, the 'Animal' to my 'Hawk' - . I just recently went through a folder with all of Matteo's original art and I lamented to my friend Jason, recalling when I used to be that inspired.
